Using The Local Barn
The Local Barn is a community directory of ice rinks and ponds. You must be 13 years or older to create an account. You are responsible for the accuracy of information you submit, including rink locations, ice conditions, and events.
Acceptable Use & Community Standards
The Local Barn has a zero-tolerance policy for objectionable content and abusive behavior. By using this platform, you agree to the following:
- You will not post content that is offensive, hateful, harassing, threatening, sexually explicit, discriminatory, or otherwise objectionable.
- You will not use the platform to spam, mislead, or deceive other users.
- You will not submit false rink data, fake ice reports, or misleading reviews.
- You will be respectful of private rink owners — misuse of location access is grounds for an immediate ban.
- All content you submit must be accurate and in good faith.
Content Flagging: Users may flag reviews or other user-generated content as objectionable. Flagging is available on all review cards via the report icon. Reports are reviewed by The Local Barn team.
Blocking: Users may block other users whose behavior they find objectionable. Blocking immediately hides the blocked user's content from your view and notifies The Local Barn team for review.
Enforcement: The Local Barn will act on all objectionable content reports within 24 hours. Users who violate these standards will have their content removed and may have their account suspended or permanently banned at our sole discretion.
Private Rinks & Location Data
Private rink owners control who can view their location. If you are granted access, you must treat that location as confidential. Sharing or misusing private rink locations is a violation of these terms.
Intellectual Property
Content you submit (reviews, photos, descriptions) remains yours, but you grant The Local Barn a non-exclusive license to display it on the platform. The Local Barn name, logo, and design are our intellectual property.
Disclaimer
Ice condition reports are community-sourced and may be inaccurate. Always use your own judgment before skating on any ice surface. The Local Barn is not liable for injuries or accidents resulting from reliance on information posted on this site.
Merchandise Purchases
All merchandise products bought on The Local Barn are custom made-to-order through our printing partner. By placing an order, you agree to pay the specified pricing, shipping costs, and applicable taxes. Payments are securely processed via Stripe.
Shipping & Delivery: We ship to the United States and Canada. Free shipping is included. Most orders ship within 5-10 business days. Delivery times are estimates and not guaranteed.
Refunds & Returns: Because items are made to order, all sales are final. We do not accept returns or exchanges for size or color changes. If your order arrives damaged, defective, or contains the wrong items, please contact us via our Contact page within 14 days of delivery with photos of the issue to request a replacement or refund.
