Starting Your Journey

Learn to Play (LTP) programs are the gateway to the sport. Here's how to choose the right one for your child.

What to Look For

A good LTP program focuses on skating first. If they're handing out sticks immediately, ensure they've spent at least 20 minutes on basic balance and edge work. Look for low player-to-coach ratios.

Equipment Loaners

Many programs offer "Starter Kits" where you can rent or borrow full gear for the duration of the program. This is a great way to try the sport without a major financial investment.

Consistency Over Speed

Don't worry if your child is the slowest one on the ice. The goal of LTP is to build confidence and a love for being on the ice. Speed will come with time.
