Welcome to the Hockey Family

The first season of youth hockey is a whirlwind for parents. Here's a survival guide to keep your sanity.

The Schedule

Hockey is a commitment. Expect 2-3 ice sessions per week, often at "creative" hours on the weekend. Use a shared calendar to keep track of practice times and game locations.

The Social Circle

The "Hockey Parent" community is one of the best parts of the sport. Get to know the other families in the locker room โ€” they'll be your carpool partners and best friends for years to come.

Managing the Gear

Teach your child to air out their gear after every skate! A drying rack and some febreeze will become your best friends. Check for loose helmet screws and frayed laces weekly.
