Pro-Level Upgrades
Ready to take your rink from a pond to an arena? It's time for boards and lights.
Plywood Dashers
If you want to play real games, you'll need boards at least 24 inches high. 3/4" Plywood screwed into 2x4 framing is a cost-effective way to build boards that can handle a full-speed puck.
Lighting the Night
Winter days are short. LED floodlights mounted on your house or on 4x4 posts near the corners are essential. Look for "Daylight" white LEDs (5000K-6000K) to give the ice that professional arena glow.
Safety Nets
If your rink is near windows or neighbors, invest in some basic sports netting. You can mount it on PVC pipes or retractable cables to catch errant pucks and keep the peace in the neighborhood.
