How to Be the Favorite Teammate

Beer league (adult rec) has its own culture. Follow these unwritten rules to ensure you're always invited back.

The Short Shift

Nothing makes a teammate grumpier than watching someone stay on the ice for a 3-minute shift. Keep your shifts to 60-90 seconds. Change hard, get off the ice, and let your teammates play.

Locker Room Contribution

The social side is just as important as the game. Pay your league fees on time, show up for the post-game locker room session, and contribute to the "refreshment fund" if your team has one.

Play Respectfully

Remember: everyone has to go to work on Monday morning. Avoid reckless play, excessive hacking, and "trying out for the NHL" during an 11 PM rec game.
